“Just be yourself. Let people see the real, imperfect, flawed, quirky, weird, beautiful, magical person that you are” – Mandy Hale
I know most people have the thought that they will one day achieve greatness. Although, how often does that really occur? Growing up I always loved creating my own stories or just writing in general. I had a blog seven years ago, but decided no one would ever read it so what was the point in continuing it?
You see, my life isn’t very interesting so I don’t have much to write about. However, over the past month or so I have had a recurring thought about those who write blogs, run a YouTube channel, or are social media gurus and their internet fame. I don’t have enough confidence to post pictures/videos of myself, so I thought I would start sharing my thoughts and opinions through words instead (because they’re easier to hide behind).
I have always wanted to start my own form of expression, but I just never stick with it. It’s not because I have commitment issues or anything like that, but this time I am determined to write frequently. Well, at least that’s what I tell myself right now.
What this blog is about is my journey through life. Why? “Because I’m on a roller coaster that only goes up, my friend”. It sounds boring and a bit pretentious. I’m not a very social person, but I thought this would be the best way to put myself out there. I know. Let’s face it. I am no more special than anyone else, but I am a little different from some of you. Let’s just say writing is kind of like my therapy.
Almost six years ago after my first suicide attempt I was diagnosed as bipolar. However, this blog is more about my present and future. Why dwell in the past, right? My life is a bit all over the place much like me. It’s not that fascinating so I don’t expect to become the next internet sensation with some mass fan following, but I want to give this a go.
I’ve always dreamed of becoming a somebody rather than forever remaining a nobody. I mean there’s no harm in trying. This is just a way to help myself and if I am able to inspire a person or two along the way then my job here is done folks.
Here’s to hoping one day someone reads this and maybe I’ll be able to tell my story.
